We are located in the midwest on 20 acres and our Havanese puppies and dogs are raised in our home and underfoot so they are very well socialized.  Since the Havanese breed is a companion dog, they love LOTS of attention.  All of our Havanese are house dogs and have free roam of the house.  They have a doggy door to run outside into their fenced doggy playyard, complete with toddler playground equipment.  They run up and down the plastic slides (glued carpet pieces to the slide), chasing each other in endless delight.  They also have a covered area (in the background) to play under when it is rainy or snowy.

We purchased our first Havanese in 1995 and became so excited over this wonderful little breed that we had to get another one.  We started out showing our first male Smallhaven Shelley's Beamer in ARBA (American Rare Breed Assoc) and then when they became fully recognized with AKC in 1999, we started showing our Havanese in AKC.  Our kennel name was originally Shelley Meadows and that is why you will find some Havanese with the name of Shelley's on our pedigrees.  We registered the name Prairiwind with AKC and it is a protected kennel name and cannot be used by any other kennel.

The Havanese are my hearts delight and joy.  They provide hours of wonderful companionship and love.  There is no other breed as loving, intelligent and playful as these little dogs.  They get along well with children and other animals.  Their coat is non-shedding and has very little doggy odor.  They are very happy living in an apartment or on a large estate.  The Havanese adapt well to whatever environment they are raised in.

We only raise Havanese and do not have any other breeds in our home.  We only feed our Havanese the very best holistic diet available, which I believe is the reason we have the healthiest Havanese anywhere.  We start our health testing on our Havanese dogs with Baer testing, eye cerft's, patellas and finally the OFA hips at 2 years of age.  They cannot received their OFA certificate on their hips until they reach the age of 2 years old.  Once this is completed, they receive their CHIC certificate showing they have completed all of the required health tests set down by the Havanese Club of America for a reputable breeder.
